What was the Day of Australia, the Bazaar and Blackbutt.

It’s good to go at Blackbutt for it’s Australia Day program of 2021.

After 2020 saw many events cancelled, the Blackbutt Avocado Festival committee are determined to see the year of 2021 be the year that brought everyone back together again; social distanced of course!

When President Jeff Connor was asked what’s going to make Australia Day in Blackbutt the place to celebrate? Jeff answered: “2021 is the year of the comeback, in Blackbutt, at it’s first chance of an event, community and businesses have come together to make Australia Day, a day out in Blackbutt. We’ve adjusted our Bazaar market hours to 7am to 1pm so that locals and visitors can fit in the markets, Bands at the Butt and a breakfast/brunch Sausage Sizzle at the Blackbutt Hall, then lunch at the Australian themed lunch at the Bunya Nut Café, followed by an exhibition woodchop and live music into the night at the Hotel Radnor.”

When Jeff was asked about his recommendation on how to spend Australia Day in Blackbutt; “If I were in your shoes, I’d be arriving in Blackbutt at 7am, to start the day the Aussie way with a local council sponsored free sausage from the South Burnett Regional Council sausage sizzle. Then use the next few hours to meander the rail trail to look through the markets, buy local food and wares and then pull up a chair at the ‘Bands of the Butt’ with a morning beverage in hand. I’m no exercise enthusiast, but I know of a few people who’ll start their day on the rail trail, have a wander around the markets, an Aussie Lamb Roll or other Aussie lunch treat at the Bunya Nut Café, then watch Mitch Argent, a three times crowned World Champion woodchopper.”

“It’s been a rough year for event organisers, café’s and pub’s – so we really hope that our townspeople, their visitors and travellers can really get out and support us; and the day we’ve put on for everyone to enjoy.”

The Blackbutt Avocado Festival committee has no doubt, Blackbutt is the place to be this Australia Day, so be sure to make Blackbutt your destination of choice to celebrate the lucky country, Australia.
