Smash the Avocado Festival with this Bucket List

Green is rightly the only colour for an avocado, green is for go, not for envy – so be sure to get yourself to Blackbutt this September! 2021 will be a smashing success full of old and new country experiences, check out the Top 10 experiences to be had at the Avocado Festival this year:

1.       WIN GREEN CASH: A big $1000 is up for grabs in the infamous Avoroll and $500 for the cup that the skydiver lands on the BIG AVOCADO. Still, there is other prizes up for grabs in the Avo Toss, Avo Golf and in the Monster Raffle!

2.       LOOK TO THE SKY: Rod Benson will be skydiving at 2pm, you’ll spot his jump with the launch of a XXm Australian Flag but this year their will also be helicopter rides to see beautiful country Blackbutt and the range by air.

3.       AVOCADO, A FRUIT & TREAT: You won’t look at the Avocado the same again after our festival, with the Country Café full of Avocado cheesecake, avocado cocktails and mocktails and regular cooking demonstrations with Jason Ford, you’ll have a renewed need to get yourself an Avocado tree to meet your cooking needs! Don’t worry, there are some avocado growing sessions too!

4.       COUNTRY FUN & LAUGHS: Not only is their the AvoGames, but an all day live and local stage featuring “bands from the ‘Butt,” roving entertainers to laugh with, wheelbarrow races and a street parade with country decorated floats.

5.       WORLD CHAMPION WOODCHOPS: Blackbutt is home to the world’s best woodchoppers, which is apt given it’s timber heritage. Get down and watch some of the fastest chops in the world.

6.       MARKETSTALL FOR MILES: Over 100+ market stalls line the Blackbutt Avocado Festival which make and shape the festival for a day browsing.

7.       COUNTRY FRESH & MADE: Find, buy (and eat) the best of the South Burnett Region with farmers selling their produce, South Burnett wine and makers selling their wares.

8.       MEET ALVIN THE AVOCADO: Get your photo with Alvin the Avocado, the walking talking avocado and everyone’s best friend! He keeps company with Baconman, and Blaze the Koala; so there is someone for everyone!

9.       FORGET THE WORLD: It’s the perfect pace in Blackbutt, mostly held in the open-air setting of the Rail Trail and local showgrounds. It’s good to go, free entry, covid safe and a beautiful drive from anywhere winding up the Blackbutt Range through forestry.

10.   FINALLY, ITS ABOUT THE PEOPLE: Our festival is all about our country, Wakka Wakka country, our land, the people who live in it, visit it and make it feel like home. We celebrate all of our farmers, businesses, citizens and visitors, using the Avocado as our charm; because together, we make Blackbutt one of the greatest towns in country Australia, and certainly the greatest Avocado festival on the East Coast! An avocado is as nutritious for the body, as the Blackbutt Avocado Festival is to the soul!
